Food journaling is the key! You've heard this a million times, and there is good reason why...IT WORKS.

My clients who take a little time to keep a daily food journal have quicker and better  success than the ones who don’t. I know…I know, but this is such a key to learning how much or how little you are eating. Many times people say to me, “I eat pretty good” but in reality they aren’t. Many times my clients are getting too many calories, too little calories, too big of portions each day or too many “cheats” in a week. With journals we can see what is going right and where you need to make improvements. A food journal is the best tool to keep you on track. It is such a great learning tool, you will be shocked by what you learn.

 

Just think about it, 1 handful of chips equals 45 minutes on the treadmill . Those chips aren’t that good. Writing down what you eat makes you accountable not only to me but also to yourself. You start thinking about what you are eating, how much you are eating and what the nutritional facts are in what you are eating.

You will start to ask yourself “is this good or bad for me?”, “will this sabotage the exercise I did today?”

 

I would encourage you to start journaling tomorrow. Write down everything you eat and you will be amazed what you will see. For example, you could not balance your check book not knowing how much money you have, so, how can you lose weight not knowing how many calories you are eating? Knowledge is power.

 

 

TO DO:  Write down what you ate, serving size and nutritional facts…this will be a learning experience that will stick with you for LIFE!
